Prayers of Rest

I love  being invited to review a book that really needs no reviewing at all but tells its own story on virtually every one of its 421 pages under 40 simple, explanatory headings.

This describes Prayers of Rest, Daily Prompts to Slow Down and Share God’s Voice (Moody Publishers, Chicago, 2022).

It was written (assembled, if you like) by Asheritah Ciuciu, a mother of three and a well-established author and public speaker, based in NE Ohio.

She urges her readers to set aside their to-do lists and find REST in God’s loving presence, guided by that acronym: Recite God’s goodness (praising God for who He is and what He has done in our lives); Express your neediness (allowing God to shape your inner being); Seek His stillness (letting Him quiet you with His love); and Trust His faithfulness (cease striving, stop worrying, and live life empowered by His Spirit, not your own limited resources).

Each prayer, Ciuciu points out, can be read in less than two minutes, so busyness ought never to get in the way, and might even serve as a springboard to longer prayers.

There’s no right or wrong way to pray, she says, as long as you are seeking God with a sincere heart.

Just as Jesus taught his disciples to pray, God will teach us through God’s Spirit, guiding us into new prayer habits, and leading us deeper in conversation with Him.

No doubt. This book prompts healing conversations on every page!
